Sirens: Girl Loses Control During Driving Lesson, Crashes into Neighbor’s Porch; Road Rage, Threats with Knife Reported; Shoplifter Takes Case of Beer

Centralia Police Department

Unlawful Issuance of Bank Checks

• At 9:25 a.m. on Friday, an unlawful issuance of bank checks was reported in the 1300 block of South Gold Street. 

Accused Shoplifter Cited

• At 11:04 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and cited David L. Martin III, 28, of Toledo, on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly shoplifting. 

• At 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and cited Eric J. Augustine, 35, of Seattle, on suspicion of third-degree theft. He was accused of stealing alcohol.

Centralia Man Booked for Breaking Window

• At 11:36 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Joshua J. Bergland, 30, of Centralia, on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief. Bergland was accused of breaking a vehicle’s window. 

Wallet Stolen, Debit Card Used

• At 1:17 p.m. on Friday, a wallet was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. A debit card was used fraudulently.

Assaults Reported

• At 3:16 p.m. on Friday, a fourth-degree assault was reported in the 300 block of West Pine Street. The report is under investigation.

• At 12:24 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue and arrested Justin L. Gibson, 26, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• At 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. A female victim was reportedly assaulted by a second woman “resulting in a significant injury,” according to police. An investigation is ongoing. No arrests were made. 

• At 2:06 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue and arrested John H. H. Tucker, 48, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• At 10:17 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 300 block of Lowe Street. Nathan J. Hayes, 40, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. He allegedly punched another man during a dispute. 

Protection Order Violations Under Investigation

• At 7:24 p.m. on Friday, multiple protection order violations were reported in the 1500 block of View Avenue. The report is under investigation. 

• At 2:17 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the intersection of First Street and Washington Avenue and arrested Kevin J. A. Frady, 19, of Centralia, on suspicion of violation of a domestic-violence no-contact order. He was reportedly seen walking with the protected person. 

Juvenile Booked on Domestic Violence Charges

• At 8:10 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 600 block of South Iron Street in Centralia and arrested a juvenile female on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief — domestic violence and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. 

Accused Trespasser Cited

• At 3:14 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and arrested Ronald Gleason Jr., 51, of Chehalis, on suspicion of trespassing. He had previously been banned from the business, according to police. 

Hit and Run

• At 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, a hit and run was reported in the 1300 block of Ham Hill Road. 

Girl Loses Control During Driving Lesson, Crashes into Neighbor’s Porch

• At 4:22 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the 700 block of Euclid Way in Centralia. A juvenile female was reportedly getting driving instructions on private property when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a neighbor’s porch and parked car. 

Telephone Harassment Reported

• At 5:56 p.m. on Saturday, telephone harassment was reported in the 400 block of West Main Street. 

Teens Caught on School’s Roof

• At 7:09 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of four boys on the roof of Edison Elementary School in the 600 block of H Street. The case is under investigation. 

Table Saw Stolen in Burglary

• At 7:39 p.m. on Saturday, a table saw was reported stolen from a shed in the 1900 block of Honeysuckle Lane. The theft reportedly occurred in the past few weeks. 

Road Rage, Threats with Knife Reported

• At 7:51 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of road rage in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue. One driver reportedly threatened another with a knife. The suspect left before police arrived. 

Beer Thefts Reported

• At 11:09 p.m. on Saturday, an attempted shoplifting was reported in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue. A teenage boy reportedly tried to steal beer, but dropped it outside the store while fleeing the scene. 

• At 11:16 p.m. on Saturday, a boy matching the description of the teen in the previous incident reportedly took a six-pack of beer from a store in the 400 block of West Main Street and fled the scene. 

• At 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, a male suspect reportedly took a 12-pack of beer from a store in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue.  

Man Arrested on Warrants, Suspected Concealed Weapons

• At 7:08 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the intersection of Euclid Avenue and First Street and arrested Deago Perez, 19, on outstanding warrants. Officers reported finding a hammer and crowbar concealed in his pants, and believed they were intended to be used as weapons. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on suspicion of having a dangerous weapon and on suspicion of having burglary tools.

Quarters Stolen in Burglary at Business

• At 10 a.m. on Sunday, a burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Mellen Street. A clerk reported $30 in quarters  stolen while they were looking away. Officers are attempting to identify the suspect using video surveillance. 

Suspected DUI Driver Hits Road Sign, Flees Scene

• At 7:23 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Johnson Road and Caveness Drive. A driver reportedly ran over a metal school zone sign and fled the scene. Police later located the driver, identified as Cherri L. Crawford, 47, of Rochester, and cited her on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. She was cited an released for medical treatment. 

Chehalis Police Department

Vehicle Prowl

• At 8:07 a.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Folsom Street. 

• At 10:39 a.m. on Sunday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 200 block of Southeast Adams Avenue. A purse and wallet were stolen. 

Fraud

• At 10:17 a.m. on Friday, fraudulent checks were reported in the 1300 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Hit and Run

• At 11:24 a.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Bicycle Stolen

• At 1:49 p.m. on Friday, a bicycle was reported stolen in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. 

Thefts Reported

• At 4:26 p.m. on Friday, a theft was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. 

• At 7:01 a.m. on Sunday, a shoplifter was reported in the 600 block of North National Avenue. 

Gasoline Drive-Off 

• At 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, gasoline was reported stolen in the 600 block of West Main Street. A driver reportedly pumped gas and drove away without paying. 

Trespasser Reported

• At 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a trespasser in the 600 block of West Main Street. No arrests were made. 

Shoplifter Takes Case of Beer

• At 11:51 p.m. on Saturday, a teenage boy reportedly took a case of beer from a store in the 600 block of West Main Street. 

Man Found Passed Out in Running Vehicle

• At 2:01 a.m. on Sunday, a possible drunk driver was reported in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. A man was reportedly found passed out in a running truck. No arrests were made.  

Dispute Leads to Assault Arrest

• At 11:54 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a dispute in the 300 block of Northeast Washington Avenue. Nikolai A. K. Hammer, 25, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 229 inmates, including 199 in general population and 30 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 164 were male and 35 female and of WERC inmates, 25 were male and five female. A total of 30 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
