Sirens: Garage and House Burgled; Fake Checks Drawn From Victim’s Account; Fire Hydrant Knocked Off Base

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Thefts

• At 9:06 a.m. Monday, a theft of a utility trailer was reported in the 100 block of West Walnut Street.

• At 2:41 p.m. Monday, police were alerted that two men stole merchandise and fled from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of merchandise was reported from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road.

• At 7:18 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of five PlayStation 4 video games was reported in the 700 block of South Pearl Street. 

Protection Orders Violated

• At 9:56 a.m. Monday, a caller in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road advised a protection order had been violated via email.

• At 5 p.m. Monday, a caller in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue reported a protection order had been violated by a phone call.

Teen Referred for Assault

• At 1:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 900 block of Johnson Road and referred a 14-year-old male subject to the prosecutor’s office on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. The teen allegedly assaulted another male teen.

 Teen Booked for Assault

• At 3:48 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street and arrested a 16-year-old female teen on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. The teen allegedly bit another teen during an argument.

Suspect Cited and Released in Theft

• At 9:25 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested and released a 19-year-old Portland resident on suspicion of third-degree theft after the suspect allegedly stole merchandise from a store.

Parked Vehicle Damaged

• At 2:53 p.m. Tuesday, police were alerted that someone dealt damage to a parked vehicle in the 100 block of South Diamond Street.

Garage and House Burgled

• At 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 1000 block of Duffy Street, where someone entered a garage and house and took items while the owner was gone.

Fake Checks Drawn From Victim’s Account

• At 3:41 p.m. Tuesday, police were alerted of multiple fake checks drawn from a customer’s account in the 100 block of South Pearl Street and deposited by mobile deposit. 

Vehicle Prowl Suspect Leaves Behind Cellphone

• At 7:24 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue. The suspect was scared off before taking anything, and left behind a cellphone.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Trespass Suspect Cited and Released

• At 8:08 a.m. Monday, police responded to the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and cited a 35-year-old Chehalis man on suspicion of criminal trespass.

Customer Makes Staff Feel Uncomfortable

• At 10:27 a.m. Monday, police were advised that a customer in an establishment was making staff uncomfortable after he said was “gonna burn this mf down.” The man later returned and apologized. 

Hit and Run

• At 4:02 p.m. Monday, a hit and run was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. A truck struck a parked vehicle and drove off.

Suspected Booked After Fight

• At 8:58 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 700 block of Southwest 19th Street and arrested Zane M.T. Smith, 25, of Centralia on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.

Fire Hydrant Knocked Off Base

• At 3:42 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard advised someone struck a fire hydrant and drove away. The hydrant wasn’t spraying water, but was knocked off its base.

Vehicle Missing For A Month

• At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, a caller in the 200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue advised their vehicle has been missing for a month. 

Criminal Trespasses

• At 7:18 p.m. Tuesday, a criminal trespass was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

• At 8:13 p.m. Tuesday, a criminal trespass was reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard.

Travel Trailer Stolen

• At 10:01 p.m. Tuesday, a theft of a travel trailer was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 233 inmates, with 199 in general population, 32 in the work ethic and restitution center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 155 were male and 44 were female and of WERC inmates, 27 were male and five were female. A total of 46 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
