Sirens: Elderly Man Allegedly Threatens Person, Runs Over Foot With Scooter; Vehicle Hits House; Juveniles Face Assault Charges

Chehalis Police Department 

Hit and Run

• At 9:33 a.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported near the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Chamber of Commerce Way in Chehalis. 

Suspect Arrested on Assault Charge

• At 12:48 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue for a report that a man trespassed at a location and punched a woman in the face. Police arrested Hunter W. Buck, 32, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and second-degree burglary. The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office declined to prosecute Buck on the burglary charge. According to the Lewis County Jail, Buck is in custody on $1,000 bail on the assault charge.

Trespassers Reported

• At 2:14 p.m. on Friday, a trespasser was reported in 2100 block North National Avenue. No arrests were reported.

• At 6:59 p.m. on Monday, a trespasser was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Elderly Man Allegedly Threatens Person, Runs Over Foot With Scooter

• At 10:34 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of harassment in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. A person reported an elderly man threatened to knock their teeth out and ran over a person’s foot on his scooter. No arrests were made.

Thefts

• At 4:36 p.m. on Saturday, a shoplifter was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The suspect reportedly took a backpack and a stereo system and fled in a vehicle. No arrests were made. 

• At 10:31 a.m. on Sunday, a theft was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard. 

• At 8:44 a.m. on Monday, a theft was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 4:52 p.m. on Monday, a theft was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard. A woman reported someone took her purse out of her shopping cart when she was loading her groceries into her vehicle. 

DUI

• At 1:56 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1300 block Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Albert F. Zinski, 23, of Yelm, on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Hit and Run

• At 6:39 p.m. on Sunday, a hit and run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

 Assault Reported

• At 10:47 a.m. on Monday, a fourth-degree assault was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street. 

Accused Shoplifter Arrested 

• At 5:14 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Derek S. Shaughnessy, 36, of Puyallup on suspicion of third-degree assault and a felony warrant. 

Vehicle Hits House

• At 10:02 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a vehicle described as a blue Ford truck hitting a residence in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard. No arrest was reported. 

Centralia Police Department

Hit and Run

• At 10:42 a.m. on Monday, a hit and run was reported in the 100 block of West Maple Street. The incident reportedly occurred on Oct. 29. 

Juveniles Face Assault Charges

• At 4:38 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of an assault in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road in Centralia. A juvenile suspect is being referred to prosecutors for possible charges. 

• At 11:41 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 800 block of Eshom Road and arrested a juvenile on suspicion of assaulting another juvenile.

Harassment Under Investigation

• At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of harassment in the 600 block of West Main Street. An employee of a business was accused of making threats toward other employees. The case is under investigation. 

Juvenile Accused of Selling Stolen Item

• At 5:32 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a theft in the 2800 block of Russell Road. a juvenile suspect was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of theft and trafficking stolen property after being accused of selling an item they stole. 

Vehicle Window Broken

• At 11:34 a.m. on Tuesday, malicious mischief was reported in the 1600 block of Kresky Avenue. A vehicle’s window was broken.

Suspects Accused of Violating No-Contact Orders

• At 11:41 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 300 block of North Gold Street and arrested Terry L. Bryan, 39, of Chehalis, on suspicion of violating a no-contact order.

• At 8:06 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 500 block of South Rock Street and issued a court summons to a 31-year-old Centralia man on suspicion of violating a no-contact order.

Lewis County Jail Statistics

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 230 inmates, including 197 in general population, 31 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 173 were male and 24 female and of WERC inmates, 27 were male and four female.
