Seven Chehalis Shoplifters Arrested Over Weekend

• Leona L. Sweet, 41, of Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft at 11:59 a.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Sweet allegedly shoplifted $898.63 in clothing in a shopping cart.

• Jessica T. Allison, 46, of Chehalis, was arrested at 6:29 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting items valuing $3.18.

• Christopher A. Hall, 30, of Lacey, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting items valuing $499.

• Joshua A. Loney, 21, of Chehalis, was arrested at 2:42 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting.

• Calee F. Anderson, 34, of Chehalis, was arrested at 3:33 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of stealing $145.89 in batteries from the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard.

• Nakisha J. Richardson, 19, of Winlock, and Britney N. Bailey, 19, of Chehalis, were arrested at 3:59 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting.

Juvenile Arrested for Taking $340 From Purse

• A 16-year-old Onalaska boy was arrested at 12:11 p.m. on Friday in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street on suspicion of theft after allegedly taking $340 from a purse.

Illegal Street Racing Reported

• At 4:18 p.m. on Friday, illegal street racing was reported in the 2000 block of Kresky Avenue. The incident allegedly involved a Green Volkswagen Jetta and a White Honda Civic. No arrests were made.

Possible Burglary on McFadden Avenue

• At 5:08 p.m. Friday, a resident in the 700 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue reported his garage door was damaged in a possible burglary attempt.

One Arrested, One on the Loose After Traffic Stop

• Chehalis police arrested Uriah W.C. Osborne, 18, of Centralia, on suspicion of obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to harm a police dog at 1:02 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Ninth Street and Market Boulevard. According to the Chehalis Police Department, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle Osborne was in, the two occupants ran. Officers did not find the second occupant of the car.

Egg-Thrower Eludes Police

• At 10:06 p.m. on Saturday, a person in the 100 block of Northeast Greenwood Terrace reported a person driving around the area egging cars. No damage was reported. The egg thrower was reportedly in a pickup. No arrests were made.

Teen with Knife Arrested for Assault

• A 16-year-old Centralia girl was arrested 4:26 p.m., Sunday in the 400 block North Market Boulevard on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. The girl allegedly injured a man with a knife while trying to slash his car’s tires. 

Car Prowler Reported

• At 12:26 a.m. on Saturday, a caller in the area of Sixth Street and Washington Avenue reported a person walking down the street shining flashlights in cars. No arrests were made.

 

Centralia Police Department

Throwing Rocks, Stealing Booze

• Bryan M. Morford, 32, Ashford, was arrested at about 9:46 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue for two separate alleged crimes. At 9:10 p.m., he allegedly threw a rock through the window of a car in the 1400 block of South Gold Street. According to police, he admitted to the crime after being arrested for shoplifting at a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue less than an hour later. 

• On Monday, police arrested Morford again for allegedly shoplifting alcohol and obstructing a public servant in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 7:29 p.m. Morford was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

K-9 Helps Capture Fleeing Suspect

• Chehalis K-9 Reign and his police handler assisted in locating Darren L. Fullerton, 48, of Centralia, after he allegedly fled the scene in the 500 block of East Main Street in Centralia at 12:54 a.m. Tuesday. The K-9 tracked Fullerton and located him a short distance away. Fullerton was arrested and booked for a felony protection order violation. 

Phones and Meds Stolen

• Officers receive a report of stolen cellphones and prescription medication in the 1400 block of Johnson Road in Centralia at 10:25 p.m. Monday. Police have known suspect information and are investigating the case.

Not the IRS

• A caller in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue at 4 p.m. Friday reported a telephone scam. A caller claimed to represent the Internal Revenue Service and demanded money. Police remind residents to call the IRS directly if there are doubts as to a caller’s identity. 

Domestic Violence Arrests

• Derek S. Keeling, 27, Centralia, was arrested for alleged fourth-degree domestic violence abuse at about 11 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue.

• Tammra L. Cheever, 48, Centralia, was issued a summons to appear in court for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. The report was filed from the 200 block of Yew Street at 2:48 p.m. Friday. 

DUI

• William M. Eaton, 37, Centralia, was arrested and released for allegedly driving under the influence at about 12:10 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Rock and Pine streets. 

• Dennis L. Duncan, 79,   Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for hit and run and allegedly driving under the influence at about 10 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Rose Street. 

• Bruce V. Zillmer, 64, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for investigation of driving under the influence. He was stopped near the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 2:41 p.m. Sunday. 

Slashed Tires

• Someone slashed the tires of a rented truck parked in the 800 block of Woodland Avenue, according to a report at 9:10 a.m. Saturday. 

Graffiti

• Gang-style graffiti was reported on a building in the 900 block of Kresky Avenue at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Graffiti was also reported near the intersection of Woodland and Alder streets at about 7 a.m. Sunday. About 15 minutes later, graffiti was reported in the 300 block of East Summa Street. 

Burglary

• Someone kicked in the door of a home in the 900 block of B Street and ransacked the house, according to a report at 4:20 p.m. Saturday.  

Damaged Vehicle

• A vehicle was damaged in the 800 block of South Street, according to a report at 12:37 p.m. Sunday. 

Trespassing

• Ryan Knutz, 24, Centralia, was arrested for alleged criminal trespassing after a homeowner found him in his yard in the 700 block of South Pearl Street at about 7:36 p.m. Sunday. 

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Joanna’s Secret

• While a corrections officer at the Lewis County Jail was doing a strip search of a Winlock woman at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, the officer allegedly found a glass pipe that fell from the woman’s bra. Deputies responded to the jail and the woman, Joanna M. Withrow, 29, told them she didn’t know the pipe was there. The contents of the pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine. Withrow was booked for possession of narcotics by a prisoner.  

DUI Arrest

• Deputies arrested Kelly M. Rice, 40, of Toledo, for suspicion of driving under the influence. Rice was arrested in the 1200 block of state Route 505 in Toledo at 9:49 p.m. Saturday. 

Furniture Stolen

• Two chairs and a loveseat were stolen from JJ Berry Furniture in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway in Chehalis between 6:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The furniture was stolen from a semi truck trailer and a bread truck that were being used for storage. The total loss is $379.

Teen Stops Trains With Crash

• A 16-year-old Centralia driver was cited after he hit a guardrail and lost control of the 2002 Saturn Station Wagon he was driving before it stopped on BNSF railroad tracks. The wreck occurred at Rogers Road near Shorey Road in Chehalis on May 13 just before 4 p.m. The teen was cited for a learning permit violation, not having insurance and speeding too fast for conditions. The boy was not injured. Damage to the car is unknown. The crash stopped train service and the tracks had to be inspected, costing about $10,000.
