A level 3 sex offender has recently registered to live at a new address in Centralia, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported.
John Wayne Gates, Jr., 40, has registered at an address in the 2000 block of North Pearl Street.
Gates is required to register as a sex offender due to two convictions as a Juvenile. He was convicted in 1993 in Douglas County for first-degree child molestation, involving a 3-year-old girl.
In 1996, he was convicted again, this time in Pacific County, on the same charge, involving a 4-year-old girl. He was released from juvenile detention in 1998 and was on probation until he turned 21.
Level 3 sex offenders are considered those most likely to reoffend.
Gates is described as a white man standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
