Rochester Woman Injured in Pierce County Crash

A 20-year-old Rochester woman was injured in a Pierce County collision involving a semi truck on Friday, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

The collision was reported at 8:06 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of state Route 161 and 187th street in Pierce County.

According to the state patrol, a 1994 Mack truck driven by a 52-year-old Gig Harbor man was heading southbound on the highway and was in a turn lane, while a second vehicle, a blue 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by a 20-year-old Rochester woman, was heading northbound.

The truck turned right, and the Nissan hit the truck’s rear end, according to the state patrol. The cause of the crash is listed as failing to yield the right of way, but the report does not list a causing driver.

Charges are listed as pending.

The Gig Harbor man was not injured. The Rochester woman was injured and transported to MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
