As of Monday, police are still searching for a man accused of seriously stabbing a driver in Chehalis Friday night, then fleeing the scene after the driver crashed on Chamber Way near the Interstate 5 onramp.

Chehalis police Chief Glenn Schaffer told The Chronicle Monday that he wouldn’t have a full update on the investigation until detectives and patrol officers met Tuesday morning, but said the investigation is ongoing.

“I know that some officers found some video, which is good news,” he said.

According to the initial report from the Chehalis Police Department, officers and troopers with the Washington State Patrol responded at 7 p.m. Friday to a report of a single vehicle crash on Chamber Way near the northbound I-5 onramp. The driver reported he picked up a hitchhiker at Walmart, and that the man stabbed him.

The victim was airlifted to an area hospital and treated. His exact condition is unknown as of Monday.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene. He was described as a white male with short blonde hair.
