An online fundraiser is underway to help pay for funeral expenses and transportation following the death of the son of Tenino’s police Chief Don Moody.

Moody’s son, JJ McCann, 32, died Nov. 27 in Texas, according to the crowdfunding website post.

Don and Shelly Moody had two sons living in Texas, Tenino Mayor Wayne Fournier told The Chronicle Monday.

“They’re getting through it and they’re dealing with it,” he said.

Despite his recent loss, Fournier said, Moody still plans to go through with a town hall meeting on Tenino law enforcement issues scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Tenino High School.

“I urged him to not worry about it,” Fournier said. “He thought that knowing his son, his son would have wanted to keep doing what he’s doing.”

The fundraiser has a goal of $2,000. As of Monday morning, $1,040 had been raised.
