An Onalaska man was injured when a car he was a passenger in went off the roadway, striking a tree and a fence.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to a Washington State Patrol press release.

At 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Alvin W. Fitzgerald, 29, of Belfair was driving a 2004 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on state Route 302, six miles south of Belfair in Mason County. Riding passenger were Thomas G. Fitzgerald, 25, of Belfair and Nicholas E. Novion, 34, of Onalaska.

Alvin Fitzgerald failed to negotiate a curve in the road, and the vehicle went off the side, hitting a tree and a fence, and then coming to a rest in the eastbound lane, according to the state patrol.

Alvin Fitzgerald was listed as injured by WSP, but was not transported to a hospital. Novion was transported to St. Anthony Hospital.

WSP believes drunk driving was the cause of the crash.
