An Olympia woman was hurt in a crash on U.S. Highway 12 near Mossyrock Monday when a driver attempted an illegal pass, according to Washington State Patrol.
As a result, Margaret L. Howell, 62, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment and Robert L. Muir, 79, of Morton was cited for an illegal pass.
According to a WSP press release, at 2:11 p.m. Monday, Howell was driving eastbound on SR 12, 3 miles west of Mossyrock. A second, uninvolved vehicle was behind Howell’s 2002 Acura and Muir’s 2005 Ford 500 brought up the rear.
Howell slowed to take a left a turn. The vehicle behind her slowed as well, and Muir allegedly attempted to make a pass in the westbound lane, striking Howell’s vehicle as it made the turn.
WSP attributes inattention as the cause of the crash.
