The Lewis County Coroner’s Office identified the person struck and killed by a train in Napavine last week as a Chehalis resident.

The man was identified as Fernando Aburto-Pompa, 39, of Chehalis. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma and the manner of death was listed as accidental.

The Napavine Police Department reported last week that the incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Washington Street intersection with the train tracks.

Two men were reportedly crossing in front of a southbound Amtrak train, though the crossing arms were down and the lights were on.

The first man made it across, but Aburto-Pompa did not.
