A Chehalis man led police on a vehicle pursuit, resulting in a collision that injured three people, according to authorities.

Charges were filed against Michael J. Page, 42, on Dec. 28, 2018, for the alleged incident on May 10, 2018. He appeared in court for a preliminary appearance Friday afternoon, where he was given unsecured bail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, in May, in an unspecified part of Lewis County, a deputy tried to pull Page’s vehicle over after he noted it going about 20 miles per hour over the speed limit.

Page failed to pull over, however. His car contained two passengers, and one of them later told deputies he asked Page to stop so he could get out of the car.

One passenger guessed the car reached speeds of around 90 to 100 mph, according to documents.

Page allegedly blew past a stop sign, striking an oncoming vehicle containing a woman and a 1-year-old child. The woman was injured when her hand apparently broke through the front window fromt the force of the collision.

Both passengers in Page’s car were injured too, according to court documents.

A test of Page’s blood allegedly revealed the presence of meth and heroin.

He was charged with attempting to elude a police vehicle, unlawful imprisonment and three counts of vehicular assault.

Judge James Lawler placed Page on a $10,000 unsecured bond, meaning he will remain out of custody as long as he appears to future hearings and abides by conditions of release. The bond amount was in tune with a request from defense attorney Rachael Tiller.

The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office requested a $15,000 bail, however, Lawler noted that Page appeared in response to a summons, and it’s common practice for suspects who appear to a summons to be given an unsecured bond.
