Man Accused of Child Abuse; Person Sleeping in Grass Won’t Move for Mower; Vehicle Strikes Building

Thefts

• At 3:02 p.m. Friday, a theft of food items was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 5:59 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of Lum Road and issued a summons to a 27-year-old Bremerton woman on suspicion of third-degree theft. The woman allegedly stole clothing from a retail store.

• At 3:06 p.m. Sunday, a theft of a gym bag was reported in the 700 block of Pioneer Way.

 

Assault Suspects Booked

• At 9:14 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1600 block of Reynolds Road and arrested Tyson D. Bell, 29, a transient on suspicion of fourth-degree assault — domestic violence. Bell allegedly struck a woman with the handle of a garden hoe.

• At 1:58 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1000 block of Ham Hill Road and arrested David D. Straub, 56, of Centralia on suspicion of fourth-degree assault — domestic violence. Straub allegedly punched a female subject in the eye.

 

Two Arrested and Released After Fight

• At 1:34 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of South Tower Avenue and arrested and released a 23-year-old Centralia man and a 28-year-old Chehalis man on suspicion of fighting in public.

 

DUI Suspect Booked

• At 8:51 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Pedro Cruz-Cruz, 26, of Centralia on suspicion of driving under the influence. Cruz-Cruz allegedly struck a parked car with his vehicle, causing his vehicle to be disabled.

 

Motorcyclist Injured

• At 8:50 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue after receiving a report of an injury accident. A motorcyclist sustained minor injury, and declined medical treatment. The rider reported a vehicle began to make a lane change in front of him. The rider then applied his brakes too hard, causing the motorcycle to overturn.

 

Assault Suspect Cited

• At 1:10 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road and cited a 28-year-old Centralia woman on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. The woman allegedly spat in the face of a security guard.

Brick Thrown Through Window

• At 4:16 p.m. on Saturday, a caller in the 600 block of North Pearl reported someone threw a brick through a vehicle window.

 

Driver Arrested, Released for Driving Without License

• At 6:11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested and released a 20-year-old Centralia resident on suspicion of driving without a license or identification.

 

Man Accused of Indecent Exposure

• At 7:23 p.m. Sunday, police responded to Military and Scheuber roads and arrested Kyle L. Duncan, 20, of Centralia on suspicion of indecent exposure. Duncan allegedly intentionally exposed himself to a neighbor. 

Police Investigate Assault

• At 8:37 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 100 block of Centralia College Boulevard after receiving a report of an assault. The victim reported that he was punched in the face by an unknown male subject.

 

Caller Reports Attempted Robbery

• At 10:56 p.m. Sunday, a person in the 400 block of West Main Street reported that a group of teenagers demanded the victim’s wallet and threatened violence. The victim ran away.

 

Suspect Arrested, Released for Punching Fish Tank

• At 11:34 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 400 block of North Ash Street and arrested and released a 36-year-old Centralia man on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief. The man allegedly punched a fish tank during a dispute, shattering the tank.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Juvenile Referred for Custodial Assault

• At 9:15 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street and referred a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of custodial assault. The boy was a student at Green Hill School.

 

Vehicle Strikes Building

• At 4:34 p.m. Friday, a collision was reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. A vehicle struck a building without causing injury.

 

Theft Suspect Booked

• At 9:54 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard and arrested Shannan R. Haythorn, 50, of Centralia on suspicion of third-degree theft.

 

Caller Complains of Gunshots

• At 12:21 a.m. Saturday, a caller in the 2000 block of Jackson Highway reported someone fired a gun around two or three times outside.

 

Person Sleeping in Grass Won’t Move for Mower

• At 3:56 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported a woman was laying in a grassy area, and refused to move for a person trying to mow.

 

Theft

• At 5:22 p.m. Saturday, a theft of an Amazon package was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Third Street.

 

Person Reports Violation of Order

• At 8:23 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported someone was violating a no-contact order by texting the person.

 

DUI Suspect Booked

• At 9:46 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and arrested Ashten C. Middleton, 21, of Chehalis, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

 

Suspect Accused of Disorderly Conduct

• At 12:45 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and arrested Tracie L. Henderson, 47, of Chehalis on suspicion of disorderly conduct. 

Three Juveniles Referred for Trespassing, Mischief

• At 1:37 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 100 block of Habein Road and referred three 15-year-old Chehalis boys on suspicion of second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree malicious mischief. The boys allegedly vandalized a railcar.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Man Accused of Child Abuse

• At 4:50 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Sanderson Road, Chehalis and arrested Joshua A. Connolly, 36, of Chehalis on suspicion of third-degree assault of a child. Connolly is accused of spanking a 10-year-old child with a belt, leaving bruises.

 

Burning Trailer Leads to Case Forwarded to Code Enforcement

• At 9:57 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Jorgensen Road, Onalaska where someone burned a trash pile and an old camper. The case was forwarded to code enforcement.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 245 inmates, with 215 in general population, 29 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 184 were men and 31 were women and of WERC inmates, 24 were men and five were women. A total of 35 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
