Lewis County SWAT Plans Active-Shooter Training at Centralia College

The Lewis County Regional SWAT Team plans to conduct an all-day active-shooter training at Centralia College’s Kemp Hall this week.

The training, which will also include Thurston County’s SWAT team, is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Kemp Hall has been scheduled for demolition and replacement.

The training will include simulations of an active-shooter situation and personnel in full uniforms and gear, according to a news release from the Centralia Police Department.

“The scenario will involve flashbangs, which sound like explosions, and training simunitions, which sound like gunfire,” according to the release. “No life ammunition will be used during this training exercise.

Washington Avenue will be blocked off from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to pedestrian and motorized traffic between Centralia College Boulevard and Rock Street.
