The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled a training session for new gun ownership rules under I-1639 for 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Bethel Church at 132 Kirkland Road in Chehalis.
A certificate will be issued to course participants. To register, email sheriffevents@lewiscountywa.gov with the legal names of participants. Email is preferred, but participants can also call 360-748-9286 for more information.
The lecture will cover the requirements for purchase of a semi-automatic rifle under RCW 9.41.090(2)(a), placed into effect by the passage of I-1639.
Participants must be Washington residents 16 years or older and must prevent a valid government-issued photo ID to get a certificate of completion of the course.
