Lewis County Enacts Burn Restrictions

Posted

Starting Monday, the Lewis County Fire Marshal will be enacting burn restrictions on outdoor burning for all of unincorporated Lewis County.

According to a press release, Lewis County Officials have determined that weather conditions have created “substantial fire dangers.”

All burning will be prohibited except recreational campfires in designated campgrounds or on private lands if the fire is no greater than 3 feet in diameter within a metal, stone or brick ring.

A 10-foot area around the fire should be cleared of flammable materials, with a 20-foot overhead clearance.

Campfires must be attended at all times by a person at least 16 years of age.

The restriction applies to applicants with a current burning permit.
