A 15-year-old White Pass High School student was arrested Wednesday after reportedly making threats to hurt people at the school, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies first responded at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday to a report that the boy, a Glenoma resident, made verbal threats of “going on a killing spree and hurting other students,” said Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey.

School officials told deputies that students reported concerning statements from the boy to the school’s principal.

Students at the school told staff the boy made statements about taking a truck and using it to “commit mass murder at the school apparently by driving over other students,” Kimsey said in a report to local media.

Kimsey said it is illegal in Washington to make a threat of violence at a school facility directed at students or staff.

Students also told deputies the same boy made other threats, including saying that “if there was going to be a mass murder, it would be by his hand or something to that effect,” Kimsey said.

The boy was arrested and booked into Lewis County Juvenile Detention on Wednesday.
