The owners of a Rochester home that caught fire early Monday morning were able to escape unharmed with their three dogs, according to the West Thurston Fire Authority.

The blaze at a two-story home in the 8100 block of 173rd Avenue Southwest broke out at about 3:50 a.m.

“The fire spread rapidly from the area of the woodstove and traveled into the attic space,” the fire authority wrote on social media. “Crews were able to extinguish the fire.”

No injuries were reported.

The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

Fire investigators were still at the scene looking to identify the cause of the fire Monday afternoon.

In addition to the fire authority, South Thurston Fire and EMS and East Olympia Fire District 6 also responded to the blaze.
