The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office has charged the fourth and final suspect in a February robbery and shooting in Centralia.

Deandre Jarrel Perry, 26, of Portland, was booked into the Lewis County Jail at 9 a.m. Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery and on a fugitive from justice warrant. He made his first court appearance at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Superior Court Judge Nelson Hunt ordered Perry held on $100,000 bail.

Perry was identified as a suspect in July. However, he was serving time in the Clark County Jail on an unrelated charge, and couldn’t be charged in Lewis County until that matter was resolved, said Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher.

“The incident occurred in February. It can take a long time,” Meagher said of the lengthy investigation. “Bear in mind, in February they didn’t know who these people were.”

Three other suspects, Taina Duncan, 23, of Portland, Brian Anthony Carreon, 18, Centralia, and Hennessy Royal Turner White, 22, of Portland, have also been charged in connection with the incident.

Centralia Police Officers responded at 10:35 p.m. Feb. 19 to the 1200 block of Marion Street after receiving reports that three or four black men barged into a residence with guns, demanded money and marijuana, and fired several shots at the two residents, killing a dog.

The robbery happened at a marijuana grow where one of the victims lived.

The alleged robbers reportedly demanded money and weed and fired at least six shots into the room.

One witness said he saw one of the suspects with a black 9 mm or 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. A second witness described seeing another suspect with a silver handgun, according to court documents.

Detectives found nine bullet shell casings in the house.

The suspects were seen leaving the scene of the shooting in a dark-colored Honda, which witnesses described as being a 1995 or 1996 model.

The suspects were caught on camera at the building. They were identified with help from the video, a portion of which was posted on Facebook.

Then eventually, through dumb luck, we got a suspect,” Meagher said Thursday. “It was actually very good police work.”

Carreon was identified through the video, but when he was questioned by detectives, denied involvement in the robbery.

Detectives then contacted Duncan, Carreon’s sister. She was arrested and charged on July 6 on suspicion of rendering criminal assistance after detectives learned that her car was used in the robbery, according to court documents.

After her arrest, Duncan reportedly told detectives that she drove from Portland to Centralia to visit her brother on the day of the incident, and that Carreon wanted to “get some weed,” according to court documents.

Duncan told detectives she drove her brother and two of his friends to the shed with the marijuana grow and waited in the car. She told detectives she heard gunshots, then Carreon and the other two came running back to the car. She told detectives she then drove them all away from the scene, according to court documents.

Carreon was arrested and charged on July 9 with first-degree robbery. Carreon reportedly told detectives that Turner White and another man he didn’t know wanted to get marijuana, and confirmed his sister drove them to the shed. He pleaded not guilty.

However, Carreon said Turner White and the other man, later identified as Perry, were friends of his sister’s.

Turner White was arrested and charged in connection with the crime on July 20. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

Duncan was later charged with first-degree robbery, in addition to her earlier charge of rendering criminal assistance. She also pleaded not guilty to her charges.

Perry at this point was still only known by a nickname — “Dro.” Detectives learned his true identity after working with the U.S. Marshals Service to identify Turner White’s known associates. According to court documents, Carreon identified Perry as the third man involved in the robbery.

Perry’s arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 8.

Duncan’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29 for trial setting. Turner-White’s trial is scheduled to start between December and January. Carreon’s next hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22 for a review of his case. His trial is scheduled to start between January and March, 2016.

Duncan and Carreon have bailed out. Turner White and Perry are in custody at the Lewis County Jail.

Meagher said his decision to not try the four as co-defendants is part of his strategy in the case, but declined to elaborate.

“It’s going to be a fun trial,” he said.
