Firefighters Protect House, but Garage and Vehicles Destroyed in Blaze South of Chehalis

A garage fire south of Chehalis Tuesday evening destroyed a garage and its contents, but it was extinguished before it could spread to a nearby house, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

The RFA responded to the fire at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday to a report of the garage fire in the 100 block of Sanford Court south of Chehalis. Lewis County fire districts 6 and 13 also responded.

Crews found a detached 30-foot by 36-foot garage fully involved in fire and threatening an adjacent home, outbuilding and trees.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the garage, but several motorcycles and a car were destroyed. The garage is a total loss.

The fire was reported by the property owner, who was home at the time. No injuries were reported.

The Chehalis Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
