Centralia firefighters are hosting a “Fill the Boot” event to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to be held at the Centralia Factory Outlets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 15.

The event will be hosted by the Centralia firefighters who will be competing at the 2020 Firefighter Stairclimb on March 8 in Seattle.

The 2020 Firefighter Stairclimb will take place at the Columbia Center Office Building in downtown Seattle, which is the tallest building in the Emerald City and the second tallest building west of the Mississippi River, standing at 788 feet.

The building has 69 flights of stairs — 1,356 stairs to reach the Sky View Observatory at the top of the Columbia Center Office Building. The Centralia firefighters will join over 2,000 other firefighters from across the United States and around the world. The 2020 Firefighter Stairclimb has the goal of supporting the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The mission of the LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s disease, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

“LLS is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. Compared to other blood cancer nonprofits, LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures,” according to LLS.

The event will be held at 1342 Lum Road in Centralia.
