Employees at Centralia’s Sierra Pacific plant were able to extinguish a fire in a chip bunker before fire crews arrived Wednesday, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

At 5:07 p.m. on Wednesday, RFA crews responded to a report of a commercial fire at Sierra Pacific in the 3100 block of Kuper Road in Centralia.

The fire was in a chip bunker, or a storage area with augers and conveyor belts used for moving sawdust or wood chips.

Employees used fire hoses to put out the fire and contain it to the bunker. Fire crews spent about two hours on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
