Deputies Unable to Wake Allegedly Drunk Driver in Winlock; More Counterfeit Cash

Bicycle Stolen

• At 12:18 p.m. on Tuesday, a bicycle was reported stolen from the 2400 block of West Reynolds Avenue. A suspect cut a lock to take the bike. 

 

Tackle Box, Extension Cord Taken from Shed

• At 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday, a tackle box and extension cord were reported stolen from an unlocked shed in the 600 block of Nick Road in Centralia. 

 

Counterfeit Cash Found in Bank Deposit

• At 1:17 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of counterfeit money found in a bank deposit in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue. The deposit was received over the weekend from an unknown suspect. 

 

Suspect Cited on Panhandling Charge

• At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to Southbound Interstate 5 at milepost 82 and cited Evelyn L. Ramirez, 31, of Centralia on suspicion of panhandling.

 

Whiskey Stolen

• At 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue. A suspect described as a white male with a tattoo on his neck reportedly stole a bottle of whiskey.

 

Glenoma Man Booked for Alleged Protection Order Violation

• At 4:21 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue and arrested Claude R. Lisenbee Jr., 60, of Glenoma, on suspicion of violating the conditions of his protection order.

 

Food Taken in Burglary

• At 5:36 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 2400 block of Leisure Lane in Centralia to a report of a burglary. Food was reported stolen from a freezer in a shed on the property. 

Man Cited, Arrested for Two Assaults

• At 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 100 block of South Oak Street to a report of an assault. Jamie R. Smith, 42, of Centralia, was cited and released on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. At 1:38 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a second incident and arrested Smith on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.

 

Suspect Booked on Meth Possession Charge

• At 9:08 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the 1500 block of View Avenue and arrested Jason C. Davis, 34, of Centralia, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

 

Hit and Run

• At 5:34 p.m. on Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. A gray truck reportedly hit another vehicle and fled northbound on Interstate 5.

Man Arrested After Allegedly Kicking Officer

• At 10:41 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. Clint M. Fleming, 34, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault for allegedly grabbing and scratching the face of an employee of the business. He then allegedly kicked an officer during his arrest and was also booked into the Lewis County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault.

 

Chehalis Police Department

Assault Suspect Arrested

• At 11:09 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Joshua M. Havens, 39, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• At 8:41 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 100 block of Northeast Leona Drive to a report of an assault. Leonard M. Hermann, 31, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.

Thefts

• At 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of shoplifters in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Amy L. Johnson, 24, of Elma, was cited and released on suspicion of third-degree theft and Jerry L. Warfield, 46, of Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft. They were accused of taking $89.95 in arts and crafts supplies. 

• At 11:33 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. No arrests were made.

• At 1:15 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of two girls shoplifting in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 3:41 p.m. on Monday, a theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 3:08 p.m. on Tuesday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. 

 

Suspect Arrested After Traffic Stop

• At 10:03 p.m. on Saturday, police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 13th Street and McFadden Avenue. Shaylee R. Elder, 26, of Centralia, was accused of giving police false information about her identity, according to the Chehalis Police Department. After they learned her identity, Elder was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for third-degree driving with a suspended license. 

 

Harassment Reported

• At 9:58 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of harassment on Southwest Fifth Street. 

 

Suspect Accused of Theft For Allegedly Swapping Barcodes on Products

• At 8:21 a.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Rainy J. Gauvain, 44, of Selma, Oregon, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly putting barcodes from cheaper items onto boxes for more expensive items and allegedly attempting to steal $76.16 in merchandise.

 

Resident Reports Theft of Glasses During Remodel

• At 12:54 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a theft in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard. A woman reported her glasses were stolen while the building was undergoing a remodel. 

 

Rug Cleaner Target of Alleged Shoplifting

• At 3:45 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a theft of a carpet shampooer, pens and safes in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Nicholas L. Palmer, 32, of Tumwater, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly trying to steal $613 in merchandise. 

 

Suspect Booked on Drug Charge After Theft Report

• At 7:38 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 600 block of West Main Street to a report of a person stealing eggs, cheese and a sandwich. When the suspect was booked into the jail, officers reported finding drugs in the person’s possession. Amanda B. Smith, 25, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and referred to prosecutors on suspicion of third-degree theft. 

 

Assaults Reported

• At 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a third-degree assault in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue. No arrests were made. 

• At 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a fourth-degree assault in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street. No arrests were made. 

 

Vandalism Reported in Playground Restrooms

• At 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of vandalism to restrooms at Penny Playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. The restroom was tagged with graffiti. 

 

Trespasser Reported Chasing Cats

• At 3:29 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a person trespassing in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard and chasing cats. No arrests were made. 

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Boat Motor, Depth Finder Stolen from Storage Lot

• At 11 a.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the past day to a storage lot in the 1500 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis. Unknown suspects reportedly cut a chainlink fence and stole a boat motor and a depth finder valued together at $4,000. The thieves reportedly removed the motor from the boat and dragged it off the property. 

 

Flatbed Trailer Stolen from Toledo Property

• At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a theft of a 2018 Bulldog 16-foot flatbed trailer valued at $2,900 from a property in the 100 block of Rogers Road in Toledo. The theft reportedly occurred in the previous three days. 

 

Deputies Unable to Wake Allegedly Drunk Driver in Winlock

• On Saturday, deputies responded to the 500 block of North Military Road in Winlock after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway. Deputies found a driver slumped over the steering wheel. A deputy tried but was reportedly unable to wake the driver, who they determined was passed out from intoxicants rather than having a medical emergency. Driver Justin B. Lawless, 30 of Napavine, was arrested on suspicion of a physical control DUI and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, according to jail records. 

 

Stereos, Tools, Champagne Stolen in Silver Creek Burglary

• At 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the past week in the 200 block of Huntting Road in Silver Creek. Two Bose stereos, a chainsaw, a fan, champagne, tools and a jewelry box were reported stolen. Unknown suspects broke into a residence and shop. The report is under investigation. 

 

Chainsaws Taken from Winlock Garage

• At 10 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the 200 block of Roe Road in Winlock to a report of a burglary to a garage. Three Stihl chainsaws and a gas can were stolen. The burglary reportedly happened in the previous two days. An investigation is ongoing. 

 

Driver Referred for Charge After Crash

• At 3:04 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 200 block of Kirkland Road in Chehalis. A 2007 Mazda CX-7 was upside down with its driver trapped inside. The driver, who had minor injuries, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The 40-year-old male driver of Chehalis is being referred to prosecutors on a charge of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Thursday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 242 inmates with 209 in general population and 33 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 168 were male and 41 were female and of WERC inmates, 29 were male and four female. A total of 40 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
