Chehalis Teen Injured in Wrong-Way I-5 Crash

A Chehalis teen was injured early Sunday morning after being struck by a wrong-way driver on Southbound Interstate 5 in Lacey, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported at 4:41 a.m. Sunday at milepost 110 of Southbound I-5 in Lacey. According to a report from the state patrol, a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Courtney J. Brown, 28, from New Orleans was heading the wrong way on the freeway starting at milepost 109, going northbound in the southbound lanes.

A second vehicle, a 2008 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 16-year-old Chehalis girl, was heading southbound on Interstate 5, and was hit head on at milepost 110 by the Chevrolet.

Brown died of his injuries. The Chehalis girl was injured and transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol. The southbound lanes were blocked for more than four hours.
