Chehalis police officers have arrested a suspect in a dispute involving a firearm in the area of W.F. West High School.
Chehalis Police Department Spokesperson Linda Bailey confirmed that officers arrested a suspect at about 3:30 p.m. today.
Bailey said police received a report of a dispute in which a suspect pulled out a firearm. Police now believe the gun was not loaded.
The police department notified the Chehalis School District, Bailey said.
Assistant Superintendent Mary Lou Bissett said the school went on a modified lockdown earlier in the afternoon after Lewis County Central Dispatch notified them that police were seeking a suspect in the area.
“We locked all the buildings’ doors … and we only released students to an adult or to the busses,” she said.
No further information about the arrest was immediately available.
