Chehalis Man Seriously Injured by Suspected Accidental Gunshot

A Chehalis man was seriously injured Saturday night in a suspected accidental gunshot, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident reportedly occurred at 9 p.m. Saturday to the 700 block of Deep Creek Road in Chehalis. A 23-year-old Chehalis man was shot in the upper-right portion of his chest and transported in a personal vehicle to Providence Centralia Hospital.

He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Deputies responded and talked to the victim before he was airlifted.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim and two other people, a man and a woman, had unloaded their guns and were “practicing their draw.”

One person reloaded a gun which went off, striking the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident is under investigation.
