The U.S. Marshals Service for the Western District of Washington has included a Chehalis man wanted in a Lewis County child molestation investigation in its list of top ten most wanted fugitives in its territory.

Jimmy D. Mathus, 61, was charged in July, 2017 in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of first-degree child molestation.

According to court documents, Mathus was accused that month of molesting a 10-year-old girl. Detectives with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office learned soon afterward that Mathus “fled his residence,” and could not determine his location.

On July 13, 2017, a $50,000 bail warrant was issued in Lewis County Superior Court for Mathus’ arrest in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

On Aug. 9, a second warrant was issued for the same amount, affecting the continental United States.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s Western District of Washington Top Ten Most Wanted list includes fugitives from federal, state and local criminal cases investigated by the Western District of Washington Fugitive Task Force.

The task force is led by the Marshals Service and includes 22 federal, state and local agencies.

It specializes in locating and arresting violent fugitives.
