A Centralia man charged with exchanging explicit text messages with a teenage girl pleaded guilty to three sex offenses this week.

Sean R. Butler, 21, pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree viewing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and two counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

A hearing to set a sentencing date is scheduled for April 26

According to court documents, the standard sentencing range for the second and third count are 22 to 29 months in prison and zero to 365 days in jail for the first.

Butler was charged in November 2017 in Lewis County Superior Court after a Morton police officer saw him with a 15-year-old girl, which he thought to be suspicious. The officer reportedly contacted the girl and her mother, who turned over the explicit messages which dated back to 2015, when the girl was 13 and Butler was 18.
