Centralia Man Allegedly Flees from Police

A Centralia man appeared in court this week after being accused of failing to yield to a police car and recklessly fleeing, in a vehicle, through a residential area.

Craig R. Mader, 36, was charged in February with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. As of Wednesday, he was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Jan. 7, 2019, a Centralia police officer went to the 1400 block of West Main Street on a complaint that Mader was violating a no-contact order.

Mader allegedly yelled to the officer, saying he didn’t do anything wrong, and then fled the scene.

The officer said Mader was driving over 50 miles per hour in a 25 mph residential zone. He allegedly ran stop signs, crossed the center line and illegally passed a semi-truck.

The officer was commanded to end the pursuit, due to the danger of Mader’s alleged reckless driving.

Mader was issued a summons to appear in Lewis County Superior Court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon. He was placed on $10,000 unsecured bail and has an arraignment hearing on March 28.
