Suspect Steals Phone From Woman at Chehalis ATM

Chehalis police are looking for a suspect who stole a woman’s cellphone after she told him she had no money while at an ATM at TwinStar Credit Union in Chehalis at about 9:18 p.m. Thursday.

The woman and her mother had driven to the credit union together. The 42-year-old victim was at the ATM when the man approached her demanding cash.

The victim told authorities she believes he was armed with a gun or a knife as she saw a wooden handle sticking out of the waistband of the man’s pants.

Police said the Chehalis area woman was not directly threaten with the weapon and it was not displayed.

The man ran to the opposite side of the bank and the victim heard him drive away.

The suspect is described as a heavyset 5-foot-6 Hispanic man in his early to mid-20s. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with a black and white bandana over his face at the time of the robbery.
