Fire Displaces Six People

• Firefighters from multiple districts responded to a reported house fire at 1 a.m. on West Vine Street. The occupants had arrived home to find their house on fire, according to a press release from the Napavine Fire Department. The residence sustained major smoke and heat damage, and the family of six people were displaced. The case is still under investigation.

Collision

• A 17-year-old girl was driving a 1993 Jeep Cherokee southbound on the 300 block of Deggler Road in Onalaska and swerved to miss a deer in the road, which caused her to go over an embankment and flip the vehicle onto its top. She sustained minor injuries, but the vehicle sustained major damage.

Burglary

• An air compressor, valued at $50, was stolen from a shop at 5 p.m. Monday on the 100 block of Waterloo Road in Glenoma sometime between September and December.  

DUI

• Ryan A. Norton, 24, of Ethel, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence after a deputy pulled him over at 1:20 a.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue, Chehalis. Norton also had an outstanding warrant from Enumclaw for a previous drunken driving arrest. His license was also suspended. Norton failed a field sobriety test and was booked into jail.

• Esteban Boites-Guzman, 41, of Chehalis, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence at 8 p.m. Saturday on the 700 block of West Main Street in Chehalis after a deputy pulled him over due to erratic lane travel and speed.

Rollover Accident

• A 64-year-old Bucoda woman was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for minor scrapes after a rollover accident at 5 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Centralia-Alpha Road outside of Chehalis. Her 1995 Chevrolet Camaro was totalled.

Baby Assault

• Wayne P. Stalker, 20, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree assault of a child after he allegedly admitted to breaking his 6-month-old baby’s arms at 5:25 p.m. Monday on the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road.

Assault

• Donald E. Thomas, 39, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for first-degree assault after he intentionally drove over a curb at 11 p.m. Monday on the 900 block of F Street and allegedly drove onto the lawn of the victim in an attempt to hit him with his car.

Warrant and Meth

• Angela M. Grussing, 41, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for an outstanding warrant and alleged possession of methamphetamine at 3 a.m. Tuesday on the 800 block of West Main Street.

Meth

• Travis L. Combs, 40, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for alleged possession of methamphetamine at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of South Tower Avenue.

Trespass

• Steven M. Yoke, 55, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for alleged criminal trespass at 9:23 p.m. Monday on the 2400 block of Seward Avenue.

Stolen Bike

• A bike was reported stolen at 1:40 p.m. Monday from West Magnolia Street and North Rock Street.

Graffiti

• Officers took a report of graffiti on a garage door at 9:34 p.m. Monday on the 700 block of South Pearl Street. 

Santa Assault

• Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man who allegedly knocked the head off of a Santa Claus statue near East Pine Street and North Tower Avenue at 3:50 p.m. Sunday. Police contacted the man, Jerome D. Volk, 38, of Centralia, a short distance away. Centralia police say Volk was intoxicated and belligerent and when police attempted to arrest him he allegedly resisted. He was booked into jail for suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest.

Assault

• Donald K. Gould, 56, of Centralia, was cited and released for suspicion of fourth-degree assault at 1:04 p.m. Sunday on the 300 block of North Tower Avenue.

Theft

• Three pairs of shoes were reportedly stolen by two females from a store at 4:45 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of West High Street.

• Two females entered the break room of a store at about 3 p.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Lum Road and reportedly stole a wallet and identification from an employee’s locker. The case is still under investigation.

• Tools were reported stolen at 4 p.m. Friday from the 400 block of North Buckner Street.

Meth

• Dorothy D. Garcia, 32, of Chehalis, was referred to the prosecutor’s office for alleged possession of methamphetamine after she was contacted by police at 9:43 p.m. Friday on Alder Street and Ellsbury Street.

• Jeremiah R. Reed, 27, of Rochester, was cited and released for suspicion of driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop at 10:39 p.m. Friday on the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. He was also referred for alleged possession of methamphetamine due to a suspected meth pipe that police found during his arrest.

• A cellphone and money were stolen out of a purse in an unlocked vehicle at 5:40 a.m. Saturday on the 3300 block of Fords Prairie Avenue. 

Vehicle Prowl

• Police took a report of a vehicle prowl at 10:35 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of Jalyn Street. Cash was stolen, and there are no suspects.

Malicious Mischief

• An unknown suspect broke out several windows of a vehicle parked at 3:46 a.m on the 900 block of F Street.

Escape?

• Centralia police responded to Providence Centralia Hospital for a report of an escaped suspect who a state trooper had arrested and accompanied to the hospital at 7:20 p.m. Sunday. The suspect did not successfully escape, and was located by police inside the building.

 

Chehalis Police Department

An Accident, a DUI, a Warrant and a Suspended License

• James R. Slaathaug, 50, of Yakima, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, an outstanding felony warrant and first-degree driving while license suspended after he allegedly caused a collision at 7 p.m. Sunday on Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue.

Margarita Arrested for DUI 

• Margarita C. Massey, 22, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of driving under the influence after an officer pulled her over at 2 a.m. Sunday on Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Sixth Street.

Assault

• Donovan J. McKinlay, 23, of Yelm, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of two counts of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted two people at 1 p.m. Friday on the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue.

• Mark W. Dennison, 58, of Chehalis, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of fourth-degree assault at 11:11 p.m. Friday on the 1000 block of Southwest Grandview Avenue.

Egged Vehicle

• At 9:10 a.m. Saturday a car, parked on the 700 block of Northeast North Street, was reportedly egged for the second time in two weeks. The incident was reported.

Stolen Wallet

• A wallet was reported stolen shortly before noon Saturday from the 400 block of North Market Boulevard.

Theft and Resisting Arrest

• At 7:35 p.m. Friday, Dalton A. Newman, 18, of Chehalis, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of third-degree theft and resisting arrest after he was contacted by police after he allegedly shoplifted $133 worth of merchandise from Safeway.
