A 21-year-old Oakville driver is facing charges for vehicular assault and hit and run after his vehicle rolled over in the 200 block of Elma-Gate Road West in Grays Harbor County.

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office had not released the name of the driver as of press time.

Deputies from the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the crash at 6:30 a.m. yesterday after receiving reports that a man in his 20s walked away from a collision with blood on his body. The caller reported the 2002 Buick Century struck a tree and that a second man was still inside the car.

The second occupant of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Oakville man, was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The extent of his injuries were unavailable.

A Thurston County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team responded to help look for the driver, who was found at 8:40 a.m. about 50 yards north of the scene of the crash.

The driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol or drugs might have played a role in the accident, according to the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office.
