Authorities are investigating the death of a baby boy after the child’s father reportedly found him not breathing.

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said when deputies arrived to the aid call for a non-breathing 8-month-old baby at a Toledo home at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday, CPR was in progress.

The father had found the baby not breathing in his crib in the residence in the 200 block of Foster Creek Road in Toledo, 911 was called and CPR was started.

However, the life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.

Brown said an investigation is underway and no further information will be released until an autopsy is completed.

She said the autopsy could potentially be performed Friday.
