A Green Hill School inmate who escaped May 3 and was arrested in Kelso May 10 is back in Lewis County.

Dominic Adams, 19, appeared in Lewis County Superior Court Thursday on first-degree escape charges.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. His arraignment is scheduled for June 4.

Adams allegedly ran from Green Hill staff on May 3 during a maintenance detail.

Judge James Lawler imposed $250,000 bail, although Adams is already serving time for both juvenile and adult charges. He was convicted of assault in October 2014 while in custody and was sentenced to 105 months, or nearly 9 years, in an adult prison. He was scheduled to be transferred from Green Hill to an adult facility in March 2016, after his juvenile sentence was complete.

Adams was also convicted of escape in 2013, public defender Joely O’Rourke said in Adams’ court hearing Thursday.

Adams was first sentenced to Green Hill for burglary, theft and assault convictions.

Green Hill reported the escape at 9 p.m. May 3. Staff said Adams likely escaped through a hole cut in the juvenile facility’s perimeter fence.

Green Hill staff reported they saw a person in a red car near the area of the hole in the fence.

Adams was arrested in Kelso, in Cowlitz County, on May 10 on suspicion of resisting arrest, possession of a dangerous weapon and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Officers later found he had a warrant for escape.
