Arrest Warrant Scam Hits Western Washington

Posted

The United States Marshals Service is warning Washington residents of an arrest-warrant scam hitting the U.S. District Court’s Western District of Washington.

If you have been contacted by someone claiming there is a warrant for your arrest related to missed federal jury duty, contact the U.S. Marshals Service at (206) 370-8685, because the phone call is fraudulent.

The scammers typically instruct people to wire money to an address to avoid arrest, and identify themselves as federal law enforcement officers. The callers also mention a judge, a court case number and other information.

The U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. District Court do not make phone calls to request payment for fines for failure to appear for jury duty.
