Man Arrested in Medication Theft

Chehalis police said this morning last months strong-arm robbery at Safeway was solved with the arrest of a 25-year-old Centralia resident. A 28-year-old woman was approached by a male who grabbed her bag containing prescription pain killers, and the two scuffled before he fled the Market Boulevard grocery store. Michael E. Helgeson, 25, was picked up Friday night in Centralia and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree robbery, Chehalis detective Sgt. Rick McNamara said this morning. Helgeson was scheduled to make an appearance before a judge yesterday.

Mom Lets Daughter Drive; Both in Trouble

Centralia police handed out several citations when they responded to a minor collision on Monday and discovered the 17-year-old behind the wheel didnt have a drivers licence. The two-vehicle, non-injury collision about 11:20 a.m. on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue ended with the girls mother getting in trouble as well. The 41-year-old Centralia woman allowed or directed the teenager to drive, because the mothers license is suspended, according to Centralia police.

Graffiti

A store owner reported to police on Monday someone had spray painted graffiti on a wall on the 800 block of West Main Street in Centralia.

Metal Memorial Missing

Chehalis police took a report on Monday afternoon that a bronze plaque appeared to have been sawed off and stolen from McFadden Park.

Gun Stolen

A resident on 11th Street in Chehalis reported a gun was stolen from the home. Chehalis police detective Sgt. Rick McNamara said the missing pistol hasnt been found. The report was made to police on Saturday.
