Power for 688 Centralia residents is currently out after a Chevy pickup truck crashed into a Centralia City Light pole this afternoon at the intersection of Summa and Gold streets.

Centralia Police Officer Patty Finch said the male driver had minor injuries after driving up on the sidewalk and colliding with the power pole.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

Art Mock, of Centralia City Light, said 600 customers should have power back by 6 p.m. The remaining residents will have power back by midnight, Mock said.

Gold Street is currently closed coming off the viaduct and traffic is being detoured to Tower Avenue and Floral Street.

Finch said one lane on Gold Avenue should open by this evening.

Along with seven City Light workers, the Centralia Police Department, Riverside Fire Authority and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

Mock said the power pole came down on a parked Dodge Pickup truck, causing minor damage.
