A Vader man may face manslaughter charges after an alleged fight last week led to his father’s death.

Travis M. Myers, 27, was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree assault after he allegedly shoved his father, Michael K. Myers, 52, Vader, to the ground in front of the Seasons Motel on the 200 block of Westlake Avenue in Morton late Tuesday evening, said Morton Police Chief Dan Mortensen. Myers had allegedly pushed his father because of a confrontation between his father and mother, Cathy Myers, 48, also of Vader.

His father sustained significant head injuries and was transported to Morton General Hospital, Mortensen said. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and later died as a result of his injuries.

Myers was arrested and booked into jail at for alleged second-degree assault shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Lewis County Jail log.

Myers will appear in court this afternoon and his conditions of release will be set; however, he will likely not be formally charged with anything yet, said Chief Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher.

The prosecutor’s office is waiting for the medical examiner's report from King County before any charges are formally decided, Meagher said.
