To celebrate the holiday season and help local families in need, American Behavioral Health Systems of Chehalis donated 50 turkeys to The Salvation Army in Centralia on Tuesday morning.
Tony Prentice, administrator for ABHS, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, said company’s other branches in Port Angeles and Spokane did something similar.
“We want to give back to the other agencies that help the less fortunate, and that’s just one way we can show our thanks and appreciation,” he said.
Often the two organizations’ clients overlap, Prentice said. That’s why Salvation Army Corps Officer Kenneth Kaurasi said the partnership strengthens the ability of both to serve people.
“It’s a huge blessing for us to be able to partner with others,” he said. “... For me personally, it’s a reminder that we’re not doing this alone.”
In addition to the turkeys ABHS donated, the Centralia Rotary Club donated $2,500 and the Centralia Lions Club donated money and more Thanksgiving food.
The turkey, along with other food, will be put into boxes that individuals and families can sign up to receive at the Salvation Army. They will be distributed on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.
