Centralia College will host an open house on Thursday, for its new bachelor’s degree in teacher education program.

The event, scheduled to take place between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., will be in the Kirk Library on campus. It is open to the public.

The event will provide an overview of the program, introductions of staff and faculty members and information about the admissions and financial aid processes, according to a press release from the college.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in teaching to come to campus, meet the instructors and learn everything they need to get started on their bachelor’s degree next fall,” Katie Dailey, program specialist for bachelor’s degrees at Centralia College, said in the release. “We’ve scheduled workshops throughout the event that provide a broad overview of the program, and we have staff and faculty available to answer questions.”

The workshops give interested students an opportunity to learn about financial aid, have their transcripts reviewed, learn about testing options and discuss the timeline and process.

The new bachelor’s degree in teacher education allows students to earn certification in elementary (kindergarten through eighth grade) and/or special education.

Classes start in September 2017. The application period will open in February.
