Centralia College’s New Clock Tower Almost Complete

Posted

Workers with Schwiesow Construction were installing some of the last remaining pieces of the newly erected clock tower on the Centralia College Campus on Wednesday, bringing the project one step closer to being finished.

The iconic structure was originally built in 1991, but needed to be replaced after the wood beams began to rot.

Now, the steel beam structure will better fit with some of the campus’s new buildings. It will also be 10 feet taller than before, standing at a little over 40 feet.

The stone base of the tower remains untouched, and the College Tower Diversity Project is still intact. Installed in 1997, the monument lists individuals or groups that made significant contributions to the Pacific Northwest.

On Wednesday, a two-man crew helped install decorative steel pieces around what will eventually house the refurbished faces of the clock tower.
