Evergreen Playhouse to Present ‘A Christmas Carol’

The Evergreen Playhouse will be presenting its next play in their 2015-2016 season this Christmas season — Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Performances will be Dec. 4-6, 10-13 and 17-21. Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday shows at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m.

This “Christmas Carol” takes on a unique twist when the story is actually told by Charles Dickens himself, with the help of a number of his close acquaintances. The story will actually come to life in front of the audience’s eyes as they discover, along with Dickens, all the memorable characters of the story.  Hobble along with Tiny Tim, hear the clang of Jacob Marley’s chain, and bah humbug with Ebenezer Scrooge himself.

Danielle Rivers, director of the show, said, “This account explores the man of Charles Dickens and his childhood — what kind of memories he had. How does one reconcile with their own unhappy childhood? Here we will see the similarity between Scrooge and Dickens and that what has happened in our past doesn’t have to dictate our future.”

Audiences will be able to come along for the ride as they see the past, present and future of Mister Scrooge and understand the true spirit of Christmas.

Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students, except for Thursdays. On those days, admission is pay what you will. The Dec. 10 show will be an actors’ benefit, with proceeds being split among the performers.

Evergreen Playhouse is located at 226 W. Center St., Centralia.
