Get ready for Cheese Days in Toledo, the annual celebration that the entire city participates in. Cheese Days takes place from July 11 through 14. The Toledo Lions Club spearheads the event, which includes a golf tournament, large garage sale, car show and unique traditions such as the frog jumping contest and free cheese sandwiches. A bazaar, parade and pizza eating contest also make up the list of endless activities to entertain. Info: toledolionsclub.org/cheesedays.html

The Seattle to Portland Bike Ride, now in its 40th year, takes place on July 13 and 14 and has riders bike from Seattle to Portland and Lewis County is the official midway point. Centralia College along with the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce organizes meals, private housing, and entertainment for riders during the event. Info: cascadebicycleclub.org

Riffestock 2019 takes over the Riffe Lake Campground July 12 and 13 at 241 Osborne Road, Mossyrock.  Friday bands are Elma Arnie and The Glove, The Lady Drinks Whiskey, Grim Statistics, Retro Jade and Big Blue Van. Saturday’s bands are Darin O’Brien, Even Skip Price, Hopkins Switch, Dawn Madsen, Jeanlizabeth, The Labelz, Groove Lab, Green Room, Stone Riot, Scott Lesman, Rhinestone Revolver, Tiffiny Music and Stir Crazy.  Info: 360.983.8122.

The Randle Lavender Week and Weekend celebrates the peak of the growing season starting July 6 at Cowlitz Falls Lavender Company in Randle, located at 136 Falls Road. There will be a full week of fresh lavender in bloom so come out and share in the beauty and aroma. On July 13-14, experience local crafts including one of a kind jewelry, linens, crafts, and must have items. Tasty treats, sauces, local farm fresh items and demonstrations of machinery and process are all part of the event, including u-cut floral and culinary lavender varieties. The Bloodworks Northwest Bloodmobile will be at St. Timothy Episcopal Church at 1826 SW Snively Avenue in Chehalis on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Skookumchuck Grange’s 11th Annual BBQ  is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Skookumchuck Grange No. 584 at 5345 Skookumchuck Road SE in Tenino. Dinner costs $15 for adults, $12 for senior and military, $10 for children aged 6 to 10 and free for children 5 and under. Dinner is also free for people 100 and over. The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on aging has scheduled a series of community forums — including two in Lewis County — to seek input on the development of a four-year “Area Plan.”

The agency includes representatives from the three member counties and plans programming and services for older adults, adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
