Port of Centralia Closes Sale With WhoDat Towers

WhoDat Towers, a company that specializes in custom fishing towers for boats, is currently constructing a new 8,200 square-foot manufacturing facility inside the Port of Centralia.

Port of Centralia executive director Kyle Heaton announced at the commission’s regular meeting Wednesday afternoon that the port closed on the sale for 1.2 acres to WhoDat Towers last week. The site is located at 1418 Mahoney Drive and was previously vacant.

“Their business is growing,” Heaton said. “They had looked around other areas to locate their business and some other sites and they didn’t work, so we helped them out with a lease. We slowly helped them over time to get a site on port property.”

WhoDat Towers has been leasing from the port for the last 18 months and is currently located at 1708 Midway Court. Owner Jim Brinkerhoff could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.

Heaton said WhoDat Towers currently leases a space that is about 3,000 square feet, while the new facility will be 8,200 square feet. The development is for manufacturing, office and warehouse use. WhoDat Towers broke ground on a new manufacturing facility Monday.

“The initial phase will be an 8,000 square-foot manufacturing facility, with the ability to expand that in the future,” Heaton said in September 2018, when the Port of Centralia commission approved the real estate purchase and sale agreement. “They are very happy here at the port. Their business is booming.”

WhoDat Towers will continue to lease from the port until their new facility is done, which will be sometime in 2019, Heaton said.

“They are fully permitted and moving forward,” Heaton said.
