Vigil Planned for Centralia Toddler Who Reportedly Died From Abuse

A candlelight vigil will be held tonight at George Washington Park in Centralia to memorialize Koralynn Fister, the 2-year-old girl who died last week as the apparent result of prolonged child abuse.

The vigil will begin at 9 p.m. and candles will be lit at 9:15 p.m. Attendees will join in prayer and then sing “Amazing Grace,” according to organizers.

The event is expected to last about 30 minutes. The community at-large is invited to attend and bring friends and relatives.

Attendees are asked to wear blue ribbons to show support for protecting children.

Koralynn was pronounced dead Thursday after James Maurice Reeder, 25, brought her to a neighbor’s home near West Oakview Avenue and claimed she had drowned in a bathtub.

An autopsy revealed extensive injuries to the girl that were indicative of prolonged abuse, according to the Lewis County Coroner’s Office.

Reeder, who was the mother’s boyfriend and had been living with the girl, is being held in the Lewis County Jail as investigators gather evidence pointing to the possibility of rape and murder charges, according to court documents.

He’s scheduled to be in court for a review hearing Tuesday at 4 p.m.

His bail has been set at $5 million.
