The sixth annual Toledo Steelhead Fishing Derby, hosted by the Toledo Lions Club, will be 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in the Cowlitz River.
A $35 entry fee that must be paid by 8 p.m. on July 22. Tickets may be purchased at Toledo Hardware & Feed. There is also a youth division, which has no entry fee. Youths will be eligible for merchandise prizes, but not cash prizes. To be eligible for the cash prizes, youths must pay the entry fee.
Cash prizes include $500 for first place, $300 for second place, $200 for third place and $100 for fourth place. Also, there will be a $50 mystery weight fish.
After the derby, a barbecue will be held at the Toledo Boat Launch. Steelhead will be on the menu, courtesy of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Admission is $10, but half price for derby competitors.
