Sirens: Man in camouflage rips open garage door; Narcan revives man suffering overdose; boy arrested for threats to kill someone at school

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 5:10 a.m. on May 3.

• At 11:30 a.m. on May 3, officers received an anonymous tip that a group of homeless people were setting up camp at a park in the 300 block of Lowe Street.

• A disorderly man was trespassed from a church in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 1:50 p.m. on May 3.

• Two homeless people were reportedly camping inside a post office in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 10:25 p.m. on May 4. Both left the scene before an officer arrived.

• A 37-year-old homeless Centralia man and a 33-year-old homeless Yelm woman were trespassed from a post office in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just before 8:55 a.m. on May 5 after they reportedly camped out in front of mailboxes inside.

 

Traffic problem

• A dead possum reported on the overpass at the intersection of Alder and Mellen streets at 6:55 a.m. on May 3 was removed from the roadway.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A minor non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 1:10 p.m. on May 3.

• A minor non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:25 p.m. on May 3.

• A minor non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and southbound Interstate 5 just after 8:15 a.m. on May 4.

• A minor non-injury collision was reported on private property in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 10:50 a.m. on May 4.

• The driver of a small pickup swerved to avoid another vehicle and collided with a power pole in the 1700 block of South Gold Street at 4:50 p.m. on May 4. The driver sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Pearl and West Pear streets just after 8:25 p.m. on May 5. One vehicle reportedly failed to yield right of way to the other vehicle.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a door ornament was reported in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue just after 9:20 p.m. on May 3. 

 

Theft

• A red Schwinn Beach Cruiser bicycle was reported stolen from the 200 block of North Rock Street at approximately 4:05 p.m. on May 4.

• A baseball glove was reported stolen from the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 3:05 p.m. on May 5.

 

DUI

• A 24-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI at the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues just after 3:15 a.m. on May 4.

 

Burglary

• An attempted burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 10:50 p.m. on May 4. The suspect, described as a 6-foot-2 male wearing a camouflage long-sleeved hoodie, reportedly ripped open the garage door to a park building and damaged the locks before fleeing the scene. Nothing was reported stolen. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

 

Criminal impersonation

• A 40-year-old Tacoma man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:10 a.m. on May 4 for criminal impersonation and on an outstanding felony warrant.

 

Vehicle prowl

• At approximately 8:50 a.m. on May 5, a citizen reported seeing surveillance camera footage of two suspects rummaging through their vehicle in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard sometime overnight.

• At approximately 8:15 a.m. on May 5, a citizen reported seeing via surveillance camera that two suspects attempted to prowl their vehicle in the 300 block of East Plum Street sometime overnight, but were “scared off by their motion lighting.”

 

Overdose

• A man reportedly overdosed in the 2900 block of Mt. Vista Road just before 6:25 p.m. on May 5. Two people administered Narcan to the man, who was conscious when officers arrived. He was evaluated by medics at the scene and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• A third-degree malicious mischief report in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at approximately 8:20 a.m. on May 3 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Just before 8:30 a.m. on May 3, a citizen in the 10 block of South Market Boulevard reported he was purchasing a car off of the internet and said the seller wanted to take the citizen to Longview to get a check from the bank. The citizen reported he “thought that request was strange.”

• A possible DUI was reported on southbound Interstate 5 just after 11:40 a.m. on May 4. Washington State Patrol troopers contacted the parties in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard and reported a possible assault had occurred. The parties’ parents were called to pick them up.

• Just after 6:40 p.m. on May 4, a citizen reported seeing a stroller with a blanket covering it “so you can’t see inside it” in the 1300 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue. The citizen asked officers to check it “to make sure there isn’t a kid in it.” Officers confirmed there was not a child in the stroller.

• At 1:05 p.m. on May 5, a woman in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a “religious organization (was) tracking her” with a “monitoring device that the church leader put on her car in August 2023.” She was advised to have Washington State Patrol conduct an inspection and to report back if anything is found. The woman was trespassed from a nearby business at 1:50 p.m. that same day after she reportedly “ran in yelling about (being) tracked.”

• A woman was reportedly harassing someone in the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 9:40 p.m. on May 5. Officers later confirmed there was no problem; the subject was “just getting her cat” after she was evicted and had left the property.



 

Theft

• At 9:40 a.m. on May 3, a shoplift that occurred in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue sometime overnight was reported.

• Just after 12:55 p.m. on May 3, tools were reported stolen from a garage in the 200 block of Southwest Lewis Street sometime within the last two days.

• A citizen reported witnessing someone steal tools from a truck in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just before 3:20 p.m. on May 4. Officers later confirmed no crime had occurred, and that the subject had permission to take a tool from the vehicle.

• Just after 7:25 a.m. on May 5, a black, two-axle flatbed trailer loaded with scrap metal was reported stolen from the 2100 block of North National Avenue sometime overnight.

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 6 p.m. on May 5 is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue at 1 p.m. on May 3.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1800 block of North Market Boulevard just before 3:05 p.m. on May 4.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A citizen reported a car backed into his car in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 6:35 p.m. on May 3. No injuries were reported.

• Minor whiplash injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 8:45 p.m. on May 4.

 

Criminal trespass

• A criminal trespass reported in the 600 block of Shorey Road just after 1:05 p.m. on May 3 is under investigation.

• A subject was trespassed from a business in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 1:10 p.m. on May 3.

• A woman was arrested for trespassing in the 10 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 6:40 a.m. on May 4.

• A possible homeless camp was reported on the baseball fields in the 1500 block of Rice Road at approximately 8:55 a.m. on May 4.

• A vehicle was reportedly trespassing on a lot in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at 7:10 a.m. on May 5.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A subject was arrested for disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at 1:50 p.m. on May 3.

• A woman was reportedly “screaming at a tree” in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m. on May 4.

 

Harassment

• A juvenile was arrested in the 300 block of Southeast Park Hill Drive just before 2:30 p.m. on May 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for harassment, threats to kill after he allegedly made threats to kill someone while he was at school.

 

Vicious dog

• A report of a vicious dog in the 1500 block of Southwest Johnson Road just before 6:30 p.m. on May 3 is under investigation.

 

Disputes

• A physical domestic dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:40 p.m. on May 3.

• A verbal dispute between an employee and someone refusing to leave a business property in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue was reported just after 9:25 p.m. on May 3.

 

Assault

• A teenage boy was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street at 7:20 p.m. on May 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center.

• A woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 11:25 a.m. on May 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

 

Shooting complaint

• Two gunshots were reportedly heard at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 2:20 a.m. on May 6.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 55 illness-related calls, 21 injury-related calls, four fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, six vehicle accidents, six Lifeline medical alerts, two overdoses, one ambulance request, two agency assist requests and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 144 inmates, including 131 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 108 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 13 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, two booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the City of McCleary.
