Sirens: Driver exits vehicle, drinks Twisted Tea; shooting report unfounded; boy, 13, arrested for assault

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• A disorderly juvenile reportedly threw chairs and damaged a desk at W.F. West High School in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just after 8:25 a.m. on April 17.

• Damage to a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 7:55 a.m. on April 18.

• Damage to a window was reported in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 10 a.m. on April 22. The damage was possibly caused by a BB gun.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Suspicious circumstances reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:45 a.m. on April 17 are under investigation.

• Two small children were reportedly playing outside unsupervised in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 8:25 p.m. on April 17. Officers confirmed multiple adults were supervising the children.

• Two men were reportedly going through trash cans in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 9:25 p.m. on April 17.

• At 2 p.m. on April 18, a citizen reported the driver of a vehicle in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue “popped out of the vehicle and opened a Twisted Tea and drank it.”

• Just after 2:40 p.m. on April 18, a man was reportedly “beating on the door” of a neighbor’s residence in the 1600 block of Southwest Snively Avenue and “screaming about wanting into the residence.”

• A man was reportedly following a woman on foot in the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 7:45 p.m. on April 18. He reportedly “approached the (woman) trying to talk to her, then started following her around.”

• A citizen reported “he was being threatened by an unknown male” who said “they’re going to poison him with fentanyl” at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 8:20 p.m. on April 18. The citizen said “a blind voice is broadcasting this to him.” Facility staff confirmed the caller “is OK and that he is just not getting what he wants right now.”

• A citizen reported someone was possibly trying to kill him in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 2:50 a.m. on April 19. He also advised “he has stolen property and he wants someone to come get it.” A dispatcher noted the citizen had “possible mental health issues.”

• At 9:30 a.m. on April 22, a citizen in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue reported receiving an email from a subject “with random words including ‘baby missing,’ ‘Cline Road’ and ‘White Pass.’”

• An male subject called 911 at 2:40 p.m. on April 11 to report “he got into an argument with his mom and shot her in the neck” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Officers checked the area and found no one matching the subject’s description. Officers also conducted a welfare check on the subject’s mother and found she was uninjured.

• A hospice patient was reportedly “yelling for help” opening her door in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 4 a.m. on April 23. A friend with a key was able to help her open her door.

 

Harassment

• A male subject reported he was being harassed by his girlfriend at work in the 200 block of Northeast Adams Avenue just before 1:45 p.m. on April 17.

• A woman reported a male subject was harassing her in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 7:40 a.m. on April 22.

 

Theft

• Just after 4:25 p.m. on April 17, a revolver was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue. No damage to the vehicle was reported.

 

Scam

• A business software scam was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just after 6:35 p.m. on April 18.

 

Criminal trespass

• A male subject who was “acting crazy” was trespassed from a business in the 1800 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 10 a.m. on April 22.

• A subject was arrested for trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:35 p.m. on April 22.

• A disorderly customer was trespassed from a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:55 p.m. on April 22.

 



Assault

• A 13-year-old was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 11:25 a.m. on April 22.

 

Vehicle accident

• A 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in the 10 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue just after 12:55 p.m. on April 22.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A 24-year-old Winlock man was arrested for trespassing in the 1100 block of West First Street just after 10:05 a.m. on April 22. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on two outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrants.

• Four subjects were reportedly trespassing in the 1100 block of West First Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. on April 22. One of the subjects was cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Just after 4:15 p.m. on April 22, a non-injury, two-vehicle collision that occurred in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue three days prior was reported.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Pearl and West Cherry streets just before 8:35 p.m. on April 22.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road at 1:05 p.m. on April 23.

 

Theft

• A 12-inch subwoofer speaker and a Kicker 800-watt amp were reported stolen from a vehicle at the intersection of East Third Street and North Tower Avenue just before 4:35 p.m. on April 22. The suspect reportedly broke the car's window and damaged wiring inside the vehicle. The case is under investigation.

 

Assault

• Jimmie C. Gertson III, 45, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault after he allegedly punched someone in the face during a dispute, causing “substantial bodily injury,” in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue just after 2:15 p.m. on April 23.

 

Alcohol violation

• Just before 7:25 p.m. on April 23, officers responded to the report of an intoxicated male walking on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue drinking from a flask.  A separate caller reported that the same male, who was “extremely intoxicated,” had a head injury and had fallen into a bush. The male, 20, of Centralia, was cited for minor in possession and/or consumption of alcohol and was transported to the hospital by an ambulance medical care.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 49 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, 14 fire-related calls, eight non-emergency service calls, one pregnancy-related call, four one suicide-related call, one overdose, two vehicle accidents and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 141 inmates, including 127 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 10 inmates, including one booked by the Centralia Police Department, seven booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
