Vader May Day Festival set for May 4

With the theme of “the circus is coming to town,” the May Day Festival will return to Vader on Saturday, May 4.

The annual festival has taken place since 1952.

“The committee has worked really hard to bring this event to the community and we look forward to seeing people enjoy the event,” May Day Secretary Kristyn Miller wrote in an email.

The festival will include food and drink vendors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a parade that begins at 11 a.m. Following the parade, the event will include free games for kids, including fish bowl toss, bean bag toss and a cake walk.

The Vader Parks Board will also host a grand opening at Werden Park, with the Lewis County Pickers Bluegrass band on hand playing tunes.

To raise money for next year’s events, the May Day Committee will have shirts on sale for $20 and buttons for $1. The committee is still accepting vendor applications, parade entries and volunteers.
